“Monday Morning” endeared many critics like Nick Leyland from “Movie Room Review” who said “Monday Morning is an eye-opening film… a lot of things in this movie that will make your stomach turn, but maybe it will make you want to step up and do something about this problem in your own neighborhood”. But “Monday Morning” also angered a few. As one said off the record – that he thought the movie was “moving and powerful”, but his philosophical differences and strong aversion to some of the graphic scenes, caused him to “pass” on reviewing the movie. Any movie that could be polarizing is a risky venture for an exhibitor. Or maybe not. Greg Laemmle gave “Monday Morning” a theatrical run at his Laemmle Theaters.
“Bold and haunting… Nat Christian amalgamates the elements of drama, thriller, politics, social commentary and magical realism… The plot never feels predictable or ho-hum…
He depicts the lifestyles of the homeless realistically and unflinchingly”
… Avi Offer, NYC Movie Guru
“A unique story that dives beyond its political exterior,
unveiling a severe problem in our country and putting a spotlight on those who must rise up and make a difference”
… Stephen Davis, College Movie Review
“A timely film & a rarity in today’s political climate…
Surprising (& sobering) scenes of abuse of homeless people”
… Edward Yerke-Robins, laist
“It reminded me of It’s a Wonderful Life turned inside-out… Christian manages to
give us certain scenes that are surprisingly powerful, often upsetting, that involve his homeless”
… James van Maanen, TrustMovies
“An eye opening film… a lot of things in this movie that will make your stomach turn,
but maybe it will make you want to step up and do something
about this problemin your own neighborhood”
… Nick Leyland, Movie Room Review
“It is complex and deep, and will leave viewers thinking
long after the last words are spoken… shocking… yet endearing in an odd way”
… Caress Thirus, Film Monthly
“A thumbs up! There are some very graphic scenes and graphic
language in this film that some may find disgusting, however,
the stark truth is appalling and disgusting. It is amazing how,
when the truth is presented, a few will not even review a film
because they don’t want to see and admit the truth that is there.
And the truth is what it is… and that we truly must start to do
something about this atrocity of mankind’s inhumanity to an
ever growing population of the homeless.”
…David Lawrence Dewey, DL Dewey’s World
“After 20 years of trying to help homeless families I thought I had seen it all,
but Monday Morning was and is a truly inspiring and riveting film”
… Booker Pearson, Upward Bound
“A powerful, engaging movie, which captures the essence of the homeless.
The personalities of the characters light up and I experienced them as very real”
… Bill Rosendahl, L.A. City Councilman
“A poignant depiction of homelessness, with powerful performances
that will linger long after credits roll”
…The Indie Talent Awards
